Summary: Nice but a bit rundown. We had a good time and I prefer Ikurangi to a large busy hotel, but I think for the price it is in need of maintenance. We stayed in a traditional room. These were spacious and had a lot of privacy. But a few things were broken, rusting etc. We also had about 4 paper wasps come in our room every day even with windows and doors closed (they weren't aggressive but a bit unnerving). Vicky and Alan were great. They gave us spray for the wasps, and lots of useful information on arrival. Everyday Alan makes a new breakfast. They are not large but were always delicious and waking up each day to a new surprise was a joy. So we had a nice time. Hopefully they can do some maintenance to get the place up to a resort standard, or lower the price. We paid $250 per night. But based on other places we stayed in Rarotonga and the Pacific, I think $190 would be more appropriate.
